More prices AMD APUs have become known
The prices of a number of new accelerated processing units from AMD have been announced. The new processors with built-in video chip bring AMD’s total range of Llano APUs to five, one of which is triple-core.
The APUs for the desktop were introduced by AMD at the beginning of July and should counterbalance Intel’s Sandy Bridge processor. Unlike that cpu-gpu combination, the gpu of AMD’s apus must offer enough power to play a game. The first two APUs AMD released were the A8-3850 and A6-3650, quad cores with a built-in HD 6550D GPU on board and clock speeds of 2.9 and 2.6 GHz.
AMD has now added three new versions to the range of Llano APUs. The A6-3600 and A8-3800 both are clocked a bit slower than the previously released APUs. The A6-3600 has a clock speed of 2.1GHz and the A8-3800 is clocked at 2.4GHz. The triple core A6-3500 is clocked at 2.1 GHz. All new APUs are produced at 32nm and have a TDP of 65W.
Prices are said to be at the level of the A6-3650 and A8-3850 for the time being, but that could change as the APUs have not yet been formally introduced. The 3850 and 3650 cost about 100 and 90 euros respectively.
