Modder achieves average clock speed of 3333MHz on overclocked RX 7900 XTX
A modder managed to overclock a Radeon RX 7900 XTX to a top speed of 3467MHz. The mud, jedi95, even managed to keep the average clock speed at 3333MHz, even though the card was consuming 696W at the time.
Mud jedi95 shares his results on Reddit. There he describes how he overclocked AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 XTX by increasing the card’s maximum power consumption. That consumption is limited to 355W on the card, but jedi95 was able to mod an Asus TUF GPU by connecting an Elmor Labs EVC2SE to the card’s I2C bus. Without that consumption limit, he could increase the speed.
It achieved a maximum speed of 3467MHz and a constant average speed of 3333MHz. With those speeds, he managed to achieve several high benchmarks on 3DMark. The benchmark scores for normal Time Spy graphics came in at 38,725 and with extreme graphics on 19,137. At Port Royal he achieved a benchmark score of 20,492 and at Speedway 7690.
It was good to notice that the usage limit of the card was gone; the card consumed 696W of energy. Jedi95 therefore describes how to actively cool the card with chilled water.
