Mirror’s Edge 2 development suspended

The Swedish Digital Illusions CE has made a prototype of Mirror’s Edge 2, but due to disappointing sales of the first part, development of the sequel has been stopped. The team is now working on other projects.

Bad news for fans of the action game Mirror’s Edge, which Electronic Arts released in 2008. EA’s Patrick Söderlund late opposite Swedish website V!cachu loose that there will be no sequel for the time being. That was in the works; Swedish studio Digital Illusions CE, owned by EA, has prototyped a successor that has been shown to the publisher behind closed doors. However, the publisher has decided to stop development of the game indefinitely.

According to Söderlund, who is in charge of Dice, the reason for the suspension of development is the disappointing sales result of the first part. The team that worked on the successor has since been divided over other projects. The studio head also lets go that the series is dear to him, but that it is not up to him to determine whether there will be a sequel.
