Ministry of Defense may be struggling with major ICT problems
The Ministry of Defense may be facing major IT problems. Minister Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert said this in the House of Representatives. There will be an independent investigation into the extent of the problem.
An independent agency will investigate the state of ICT and its management, writes De Volkskrant. The research costs 50,000 euros. The Minister of Defence, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, has ordered the investigation. Hennis-Plasschaert has received signals that communication between departments is not going well. She also believes that the infrastructure ‘leaves something to be desired’ and ‘the basis is not in order’.
Hennis-Plasschaert announced the investigation in the House of Representatives, which reacted with surprise. According to De Volkskrant, PvdA MP Angelien Eijsink wondered why the problems had never surfaced before. Hennis-Plasschaert’s statement that the problems may have been caused by the shrinking Defense budget was too easy for her.
