Minecraft gets character creator
Minecraft will soon give players the option to customize their character to their own taste. The body shape, hair, face and clothing are adjustable. Previously this was only possible with mods.
The Minecraft team discusses the possibility in detail in a live stream and a blog post. They state that more than 100 settings and items will be available for free and that there will also be a range of further accessories that will be paid for. Currently, the feature is available in Minecraft beta on Xbox One, Windows 10, and Android. The feature will also be coming to iOS and the Switch after the beta.
With mods or the import skin function, players could already customize their avatar to their own taste, but this should make it easier for the less tech-savvy players. Mojang notes in the blog post that the import function will not disappear with the arrival of the character creator.
Minecraft has been available for about ten years, but despite its age, it still has a large following of players. Earlier this month, it turned out that 112 million gamers start the game every month. This is probably not only due to the freedom of choice that the game offers, but also the fact that it is playable on almost all platforms. Microsoft acquired Minecraft studio Mojang in 2014 for almost two billion euros.
