Minecraft-esque sandbox Hytale will be released in 2021
The Minecraft-esque Hytale game is not expected to be released until 2021. The developers of the open world game have released an update for the first time in months, including half a minute of gameplay footage.
The game was announced late last year, but little was known about it until now. Hytale is a project that involves converting a Minecraft server with an MMO concept into an RPG. The game is being developed by Hypixel, which has received an investment from League of Legends developer Riot Games, among others. Hytale will be a sandbox game with different modes, including a creative mode. It has a toolkit with which players can create their own scripts and models.
The makers say it will take until at least 2021 before the game can be played. They do not say when that should happen in that year. In a blog post, the developers write that the response to the game has been overwhelming. “We were not prepared for the intense analysis we received. We are aware of the risks that other highly anticipated games have faced in the past.” The developers went on to say they want to show “a strong first impression of the game.” The developers apologize for the radio silence. The studio has not posted any blog posts in recent months.
Hypixel says it has suffered several setbacks over the past few months and is taking more time to complete the game as a result. The company also says that it has few parts of the game that are ‘launch ready’. “At this point in the process, many parts of the game are about that level, but not quite yet. We didn’t want to show too much too early,” the makers write. Despite this, the studio has put quite a few new screenshots online. The company also released 36 seconds of gameplay footage.
