Million players bought Forza Horizon 5 Premium with early access
Forza Horizon 5 is already played by about a million players. The game will be released on Tuesday, November 9, but gamers who purchase a Premium edition were able to get started with the game from last Friday. The more expensive versions cost 50 or 100 euros.
The number of players is shown on the in-game leaderboards. Video Games Chronicle noted on Saturday that there were already more than 800,000 names on the list and that has now increased further. A player’s YouTube video shows that there are more than 980,000 players on the leaderboards as of Sunday.
Forza Horizon 5 is available for Xbox consoles and Windows PCs and will be playable for Game Pass subscribers on November 9 at no additional cost. Only when purchasing the Premium Edition or the Premium Upgrade of 100 and 50 euros respectively, players will receive early access to the game. These editions also give players access to more cars and future expansions for the game.
With about a million players who have paid for Early Access, Microsoft has already made between $50 and $100 million in revenue from the game. The success of Forza Horizon 5 is not unexpected. Predecessor FH4 is one of the most popular Xbox games, having been played by 24 million people by the end of last year, according to Microsoft. That game is also part of Game Pass. It is not known how often the game has actually been sold.
