Microsoft: Windows Store app downloads have grown by 110 percent
Microsoft claims that the number of downloads of apps from the Windows Store has grown by 110 percent in a year. The number of active users of the download store is said to have grown by 30 percent.
The figures were published by Microsoft’s Todd Brix on the Windows blog. In one year, the number of registered developers for Windows Store apps has grown by 80 percent and the growth in app choices is 60 percent. Gross revenue for developers is also said to have more than doubled.
According to Brix, more than 90 percent of app downloads and 65 percent of Windows Phone apps come from systems running version 8.1 of the OS. Microsoft does not provide precise figures on the number of downloads. More than a year ago, the number of daily downloads from the Windows Store was 1.7 million.
Microsoft is going to announce more about the consumer version of Windows 10 this month. Developers must make their apps suitable for the new version of the operating system, whereby there must be even more uniformity in the desktop, tablet and smartphone.
