Microsoft: Windows Media Center will no longer be included from Windows 10

Windows Media Center no longer has a place in the arsenal of bundled software on Windows operating systems. From Windows 10, the media program is no longer included and those who upgrade can no longer use it.

Microsoft confirmed the discontinuation of Windows Media Center in a conversation with ZDNet. A CEO of the company said that the program is no longer available with Windows 10. Anyone who upgrades to the new operating system from Windows 7 or Windows 8.x will receive a warning on the screen: Windows Media Center will be removed when Windows 10 is installed because it is not compatible.

The fact that Windows Media Center is being pulled is no surprise for some time now. Its development was already stopped in 2009, but a new version was still included on Windows 8. With that release, Microsoft already hinted that future operating systems might not have Windows Media Center. The program saw the light of day in 2002 and was marketed as a way to play audio and video content. The reason for stopping development was the lack of interest from Windows users.
