Microsoft: Windows 10 has 14 million users
In the night from Thursday to Friday, Windows 10 already had 14 million users. That was more than a day after Microsoft completed the download of Windows 10. It is not entirely clear whether the Windows Insider testers’ test versions are counted.
During the night from Thursday to Friday, Microsoft wrote that “currently 14 million devices are running Windows 10.” That means a small portion of Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 users have completed the update. In total, millions of ‘insiders’ had already switched to Windows 10 before the release to test the operating system.
The free update to Windows 10 is gradually being distributed to users of those older Windows versions. Microsoft promises that it will do its best to roll out the update as soon as possible, but also warns that it could take a few more days or even weeks.
Windows users need to ‘reserve’ the Windows 10 update in order to update for free. If you don’t want to wait, you can also use a dedicated tool from Microsoft to install the update immediately.
