Microsoft will support Autumn Updates for Windows 10 Enterprise longer

Microsoft extends the support of the sizeable updates it will make from eighteen to thirty months in September for Windows 10 Enterprise and Education. This should give airway managers more air when they roll out.

The extension of support from eighteen to thirty months only applies to Windows 10 Enterprise and Education, not to Windows 10 Home, Pro and Office 365 ProPlus. In addition, the longer support period only applies to the update scheduled for September, not for the update that will appear around March. When asked about this difference by ZDNet Microsoft claims that companies are more inclined to update their systems in the fall due to budget reasons.
Microsoft further clarifies that the extension applies to the current supported versions of Windows 10 Enterprise and Education, versions 1607, 1703, 1709 and 1803, and for future September updates from version 1809. The latter is the version that appears as Windows 10 October 2018 . The extension has been implemented on the basis of feedback. “It gives customers with longer deployment cycles the time they need to plan, test and distribute,” said Microsoft.
