“Microsoft will soon come with a smartwatch with a battery life of two days”
Microsoft will release its smartwatch within a few weeks and the wearable will have a battery life of two days with normal use. That’s what Forbes sources claim. The smartwatch would go on sale before the lucrative December period.
Forbes sources, who are said to be familiar with Microsoft’s project, confirm that it is a wearable with a heart rate monitor that works on multiple platforms. The smartwatch could therefore not only sync with Windows Phone, but also with Android and iOS. Rumors to that effect about Microsoft’s smart watch have been around for some time.
A battery life of two days would give the wearable an edge over the competitors from Samsung and Motorola: respectively the Galaxy Gear and the Moto 360 have to be charged daily. The sales start in November or December would be an advantage over Apple. The Apple Watch will arrive in early 2015 and therefore misses the lucrative holiday season.
It is still unclear what Microsoft will call the wearable and what the price will be. The introduction means that Microsoft is once again entering a hardware market. The company has done this with varying degrees of success in the past: the Xbox was a success, the Zune music player did not and the Surface tablets show a mixed picture.
