Microsoft will bring the massive New Xbox One Experience update to the Xbox One in November, bringing backwards compatibility to the console. In the coming weeks, a select group of Preview participants will receive the update.

Xbox One Preview Program participants will get the update first. Microsoft sends invites through Xbox Live; Priority is given to participants who have provided a lot of feedback in the past. In the weeks that follow, Microsoft will roll out new builds with bug fixes. The update should be widely rolled out in November.

Mike Ybarra, director of program management for Xbox, reports that players will be able to “play hundreds of Xbox 360 games on Xbox One” at launch, with hundreds more to come in the months to come. In his message, he lists the adjustments that the update brings.

Among other things, the dashboard will be refreshed with a faster and easier to use interface. Featured is a new community section with an Activity Feed where friends can follow. The update should also bring speed improvements. Microsoft announced the update at E3.
