Microsoft will release Surface Duo in France, Germany and UK in early 2021
Microsoft’s Surface Duo mobile device with two screens will also appear outside the United States in early 2021. The company reports that it will then introduce the Android handheld in Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany and France.
Microsoft does not notify exactly when the Surface Duo will appear in the respective countries. It is also not clear whether availability in more countries, will follow later in 2021 and what the price will be in euros. The company promises to make more known about its plans for the Surface Duo in early 2021.
The device runs on Android, has two 5.6 “OLED screens and a Snapdragon 855-soc. The screens have OLED panels with a resolution of 1800×1350 pixels each. It is not a foldable screen, but two panels with a hinge in between. Microsoft released the Surface Duo exclusively in the United States on September 10 for prices starting at $ 1,399.
Reviewers were not enthusiastic after the release and felt that the device was not yet suitable for a release. For example, they complained about lag and a lack of high-end features, such as 5G, fast wireless charging and waterproofing. Microsoft’s goal is for developers to optimize their apps for dual-screen use. According to the company, TikTok has now done so, allowing users on the Surface Duo to scroll through a personalized offering of videos on one screen and see hashtags and trends on the other.
