Microsoft will release preview of Edge for Linux in October
Microsoft will release a preview version of its Edge browser for Linux next month. The Linux version was announced last year and shown earlier this year. It is not yet clear whether the version for Linux differs from the versions for Windows and macOS.
Linux users can download Edge next month from the Microsoft Edge Insider website, or via the package manager from Linux. It is not yet clear on which day the Edge browser will be available for Linux. Microsoft also does not yet provide substantive details about the preview version. The beta version may not have all the functionality included in the current versions for Windows and macOS.
Microsoft announced at its Ignite event on Tuesday that Edge is coming to Linux in October. Last November, Microsoft spoke for the first time about a Linux version of its Chromium-based Edge browser. Earlier this year, Microsoft already demonstrated the Linux version of the browser at its Build conference.
