Microsoft will only bring Band to other countries if launch in US is successful
Microsoft doesn’t seem to have any immediate plans to release its recently announced Band smartwatch outside of the United States. The company says its plans are based on how the device will be received by American customers.
The Band will therefore only be released in the United States for the time being. A release in other countries is possible, but will depend on how successful the device’s launch in the United States is confirmed Microsoft CEO Yusuf Mehdi on Twitter. According to Mehdi, his company still has a lot to improve on: it seems that the Band is a test case for Microsoft.
Microsoft announced its first smartwatch, which doubles as a fitness bracelet, on Thursday. It includes a GPS, heart rate monitor, thermometer, gyroscope, light sensor and UV light meter. It is striking that Band not only works with Microsoft’s own Windows Phone, but also with Android and iOS from competitors Google and Apple.
Microsoft sells the Band via its own site in three sizes for 199 dollars, converted 157 euros. A price in Europe is therefore still unclear due to the lack of concrete plans for a release, but will probably be 199 euros.
