Microsoft has announced an event for May 2, at which it will likely showcase new software and possibly new hardware. The hashtag Microsoft is using indicates that the event will focus on products for education.

Microsoft has put a page online with a teaser with a drawn cityscape. The hashtag #MicrosoftEDU points out that the event is related to education, but the software maker has not confirmed anything about what it will be presenting at the event. The following week will see Build, Microsoft’s developer event.

Rumor has it that it has to do with Windows 10 Cloud, a limited version of the operating system that is only able to install Windows Store apps and does not support traditional win32 programs. The software is presumably intended for cheap laptops or tablets. An early version of Windows 10 Cloud recently appeared online, but Microsoft has not confirmed the existence of the variant of the operating system.

Twitterer WalkingCat found additionally, a reference to the term Cloudbook in the Windows Store. A URL with that term led to a collection of apps for students. Cloudbook is a name that Acer started using two years ago for cheap laptops with a full version of Windows 10.
