Microsoft will end support for Office apps Windows 10 Mobile in early 2021
Microsoft will end support for its Office apps for Windows 10 Mobile on January 12, 2021. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote will no longer receive security updates from then on. Support for Windows 10 Mobile itself will end from Tuesday.
After ending support for the Office apps for Windows 10 Mobile, Microsoft will focus entirely on the Android and iOS versions of the apps. Microsoft therefore refers users to those versions.
Until early 2021, the Office apps for Windows 10 Mobile will receive bug fixes and security updates. Until then, Microsoft will also provide technical support. This means that the Office apps receive support for more than a year longer than the mobile operating system itself.
Support for Windows 10 Mobile ends on Tuesday; there will be no more updates for the mobile operating system from then on. Microsoft announced this earlier this year. This officially puts an end to Microsoft’s own OS for smartphones. Microsoft has been developing a mobile operating system for almost 25 years, but has now stopped doing so.
