Microsoft will start rolling out Windows 10 Mobile to older smartphones in December. This was announced by a Microsoft employee on the Lumia Facebook page. There are no further details about the rollout.
The first smartphones with Windows 10 Mobile will be the Lumia 550, Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, which Microsoft announced on Tuesday and will appear in November. A month later, Microsoft starts releasing the OS to older devices.
“Wide availability of Windows 10 on other devices, including mobile phones, will begin in December,” a Microsoft employee wrote on the Lumia page on Facebook. Exactly which devices will receive the software is still unknown and the exact planning of the rollout is also unclear.
Microsoft says on its website that it is doing its utmost to make Windows 10 available for all Lumia devices. The Lumia 430, 435, 532, 535, 540, 635, 640, 640XL, 735, 830 and 930 will get the upgrade first.
