Microsoft wants to keep releasing Call of Duty games on PlayStation consoles
Microsoft plans to continue to release ‘Call of Duty and other popular Activision Blizzard titles’ on PlayStation consoles. Previously, it was not clear what the Activision Blizzard acquisition meant for the availability of old and new games from the developer on the PS.
Sony said in January that it doesn’t think Microsoft’s acquisition will make Activision Blizzard games disappear from the PlayStation. The company expected Microsoft to stick to earlier agreements and not make the games exclusive. Microsoft now confirms that too.
“To be clear, Call of Duty and other popular titles from Activision Blizzard will continue to be available on PlayStation consoles as long as the current agreement remains in effect. In addition, we have committed to Sony that we will continue to make the games available after that agreement and in the future so that Sony fans can continue to enjoy the games they love,” Microsoft president Brad Smith said in a statement.
Smith added that Microsoft will look into ensuring continued availability of Activision Blizzard games on Nintendo Switch as well. There are a number of Activision Blizzard games available on Switch, including Overwatch, Diablo III: Eternal Collection, and Spyro: Reignited Trilogy.
