Microsoft Updates Xbox 360 To Support 2TB HDDs

Microsoft wants to give the Xbox 360 a firmware update that makes it possible to connect external hard drives with a storage capacity of up to 2TB to the console. According to the software giant, this is one of the most requested features by owners of an Xbox 360.

The firmware update with 2TB support will only be available in the so-called Preview Program for the time being. Microsoft has now also created this test program for the Xbox 360, after a similar group of beta testers was already available for the Xbox One.

In addition to supporting 2TB drives that can be attached to the console via a USB cable, Microsoft says the Xbox 360 firmware will no longer reserve space on a connected hard drive. Furthermore, Microsoft informs that some external hard drives can give performance problems or not work. However, the company does not provide further details. The firmware update will be available to all Xbox 360 users later this year.
