Microsoft to take iso’s Windows 10 preview offline
Microsoft is going to take the iso files for the installation of Windows 10 offline. The intention is that users of the Insider builds will test how updates work via Windows Update, so that Microsoft can prepare for the release of Windows 10 at the end of this month.
By now testing the update process through Windows Update on people who are trying out Windows 10 through the Windows Insiders program, Microsoft wants to test whether the update process through Windows Update runs smoothly. This is necessary because of the upcoming release of Windows 10 and the RTM this month, Microsoft writes.
That means that with the disappearance of the site’s isos, no new people will be able to start testing Windows 10. Users with builds 10162 and 10166 won’t get any updates for the time being, until the RTM version comes out. That should be done in a few weeks.
Microsoft will release Windows 10 July 29. From that day on, users of Windows 7 and 8.1 will be able to install Windows 10 as a free update, if they have signed up for it via the notification in the taskbar.
