Microsoft will begin testing its game streaming service xCloud in South Korea next month. The company has made that known. It had been known for some time that a test would start in October, but Microsoft had not yet said where that would take place.

In the test, customers of provider SK Telecom will be able to stream Xbox games to mobile devices via 4G and 5G, both companies say. It is unknown how long the test will take, how many people will participate and when Microsoft Project will offer xCloud in other countries.

Project xCloud will focus on streaming over SK Telecom’s 5g network, as it offers lower latency and thus better game streaming. It is unknown if Microsoft will also partner with providers in other countries for the test of Project xCloud.

Microsoft previously announced Project xCloud. Microsoft has placed Xbox hardware in its data centers to enable streaming of all Xbox games. Players can play on a mobile device via the internet connection.
