Microsoft tests making Edge browsing data discoverable via Windows search bar

Microsoft has added a new setting in the Edge Canary browser that allows users to share their browsing behavior with other Windows features. That would make it possible to search the browsing history through the search bar in Windows.

This option can be found in Edge’s profile settings, Techdows writes. Enabling the setting means that the user’s local profile data, such as open tabs, browsing history and favorites, becomes discoverable via the Windows search bar.

According to Techdows, the feature is not currently working on Windows 10 and is still a placeholder. It is not yet clear when the feature will become available and whether and when it will become a permanent part of the regular Edge version.

In a description of this feature, Microsoft only mentions using the search bar built into Windows 10, but sharing the data may also become possible with other Windows components.
