Microsoft Tests Clarity Boost Feature for Xbox Cloud Gaming on Edge Browser
Microsoft is testing an option that will make Xbox Cloud Gaming games streamed via the Edge browser look sharper. This Clarity Boost now works in Microsoft Edge Canary and should be available to every Edge user by 2022.
Clarity Boost uses “a number of client-side scaling improvements” to improve the image quality of the streamed video, Microsoft says. The option can be turned on and off via a drop-down menu while playing the game. Based on the first comparisons of, among others, The Verge, games look sharper with this function, making more details visible.
To try out the feature, users must use Microsoft Edge Canary. That is a test version of the Edge browser in which Microsoft tests new, possibly unstable functions. The Clarity Boost has been added to version 96.0.1033.0 of the browser. According to Microsoft, Clarity Boost will be available to all Edge users sometime next year.
