Microsoft testing feature in Edge to edit images before saving
Microsoft is testing a feature in Edge to edit images before users save them. The feature is in the Canary test version of the browser. Users can apply filters and adjust lighting and colors, among other things.
Screenshots of the feature came out via Reddit by a post from user Leopeva64-2. Also among others Ghacks discusses the feature and notes that it does not seem possible to activate the function via a flag; it seems to be a test among a limited number of users.
The option appears under a right-click on an image in a web page. Below the options for saving and copying the image, there is now an option for editing, after which the interface to edit photos appears. It’s similar to the image editor in Microsoft’s Photos app.
There, users can crop an image, adjust filters and colors, and do other edits before finally saving the image. It’s unclear why Microsoft thinks it’s necessary to include a photo editor in Edge. The company has not publicly communicated about the test.
