Microsoft Temporarily Postpones Insider Builds After Unintended Releases

Microsoft has announced that it will not release any further Insider builds this week. Earlier this week, the company accidentally published two 16212 builds that are causing problems for many Windows 10 users. For example, devices got into a boot loop after installation.

Microsoft writes that the error was caused by an “unintended deployment to an engineering system that monitors which builds become available to Insiders.” These are the build rs_edge_case for PC and rs_iot for Windows 10 Mobile. In the first case, the Redmond company recommends performing a roll-back. Users have ten days to do so. Another option is to wait for a new build.

Microsoft recommends that mobile users run and re-flash the Windows Device Recovery Tool. The build cannot be installed on mobile devices and causes a boot loop, according to Microsoft. After flashing, users can re-join the Insider program. If the update has been downloaded but not installed, a reset of the device is necessary.

The company states that the accidental builds went out to only a small number of Insiders and apologizes for the problems caused.
