Microsoft has started selling e-books in the Windows Store. Users can read the books in browser Edge, which will receive support for reading books in various file formats. E-book sales are currently limited to the United States.

Reading books in Edge allows users to instantly play built-in video and audio files, and integration with Cortana makes it possible to quickly request definitions of words while reading. In addition, Edge can handle epub formats. The features are in Insiders build 15014, Microsoft says.

In addition, Microsoft is experimenting with a slider for the ‘Power mode’ in the build. On the one hand it says ‘best battery life’ and on the other hand ‘best performance’. According to Microsoft, the slider is for gamers who can easily opt for better performance in exchange for less battery life. The slider is present, but does nothing, warns Microsoft. It is an experiment with the interface.

In addition, Microsoft has decided to postpone the previously announced My People feature. The software maker announced the feature in October as part of the Creators Update due this spring. The development of My People, which should make it possible to quickly communicate with colleagues or friends from the taskbar, is taking more time than expected, so Microsoft has decided to implement the function only in a next Windows version.
