Microsoft starts beta test Cortana for iOS

Microsoft has made its speech and information service Cortana available to a select group of testers on the iOS operating system. Testers are asked to try out the features of the application.

The Microsoft News website discovered that the testing phase for the Cortana application on iOS has begun. Microsoft does this through Testflight, the system developed by Apple to test applications for the public release. Interested parties could register for this, but it is not possible to directly access the beta test.

Specifically, the Redmond-based company asks to test a number of features, such as setting a reminder via Cortana on Windows 10 and then see if it appears on the iOS device; So Microsoft seems to want to investigate whether Windows and iOS work well together. Microsoft also wants to know how well the service responds to user voice requests. After the test, the company will likely make the Cortana application publicly available, but it’s unclear when that will be.

Cortana was initially only developed for Microsoft’s own Windows OS, but for some time the service has also been developed for other operating systems. For example, a beta version for Android was released in August. Just like for iOS, no final version has been released yet.
