Microsoft starts automatic distribution Windows 10 October 2018 Update
Microsoft has started the phased automatic distribution of the October 2018 Update to Windows 10 users. If you have not yet manually performed the update, you can expect a notification in the coming weeks that it is ready.
Microsoft is first bringing the October 2018 Update via Windows Update to systems that, according to data from the company, have “the best update experience”, i.e. that are not expected to experience any problems. That’s on the status page about the update to Windows 10 version 1809, the October 2018 Update. Windows Latest saw that page had been updated on Wednesday.
The automatic distribution follows the release of the software to users who manually click ‘Check for updates’. That happened on December 18, 2018. The automated distribution now marks another step in a tedious update process for Windows 10.
The Windows 10 October Update appeared in October, but soon users reported losing files, folders, and programs. In mid-November, the Redmond company cautiously resumed distribution with small groups of users. In the meantime, the company has added multiple cumulative updates to fix multiple bugs. If you still have doubts, you can postpone the update manually and making a backup is in any case recommended before implementing updates.
