Microsoft shows PC in an adapter
Microsoft showed a mini PC in an adapter at Computex. The computer plug from the Taiwanese company Quanta fits into a socket and is connected to a monitor via HDMI. The adapter also has a USB 3.0 port and Bluetooth.
When the adapter is connected to a monitor, control can continue via Microsoft’s assistant Cortana via a bluetooth remote control or headset. Besides being a different approach to a mini computer, like Intel with the Compute Stick or Google with the Chromecast, further details about the hardware are lacking. Microsoft showed the device on Computex as a device that runs the Windows 10 operating system, Betanews writes.
Quanta Computers is a computer manufacturer of a wide range of computer hardware and consumer electronics and one of the largest ODMs in the world. It normally does not build devices under its own name. It is therefore also unclear whether the adapter in this form will ever be marketed and what it should cost.
