Microsoft shows full-screen reminder of Windows 10 upgrade for July 29
Microsoft is going to show users a reminder of the Windows 10 upgrade that takes up the entire screen. Until July 29 it is possible to upgrade to Windows 10 for free from Windows 7 and 8.1, after that the upgrade costs money.
Some Windows 7 and 8.1 users may see the notification, Microsoft says. The screen reminds the user in big letters that the offer to upgrade to Windows 10 for free will expire on July 29. Users have the choice to start the upgrade immediately or to be reminded again later. If you prefer not to do this, you can choose ‘don’t remember me anymore’ and if you are not sure you can choose to show the notification a maximum of three more times.
Users who have installed a recent version of the Get Windows 10 app will not see the full-screen message. The same goes for people who have removed Windows 10 after a previous upgrade, and for people who have hidden the notifications from the Get Windows 10 app.
The arrival of the full-screen reminder comes shortly after the news that Microsoft has announced that it will make it easier to reject the upgrade. Over the past year, many users have criticized the way Microsoft tried to persuade users to move to Windows 10.
