Microsoft sets up division to promote Windows and Android integration

Microsoft has established an internal division in which it will house teams developing apps and services for Android. That writes Windows Central. The new division will be named Android Microsoft Platform and Experiences and will be led by Panos Panay.

The teams from the Surface Duo Android operating system, the SwiftKey keyboard app, the Phone Link app on Windows and the Microsoft Launcher will be part of the new division. The employees of SwiftKey and the Microsoft Launcher belonged according to Windows Central until recently to the Microsoft Mobile Experiences department. They reportedly also developed for iOS devices.

The new industry, according to Windows Central, was built to increase Microsoft’s commitment to Android over time. According to Windows Central, Microsoft wants to work on better integration between Windows and Android, an integration that should go beyond what is now offered via the Phone Link app and more closely model what Apple offers to its iOS and Mac. users.

Microsoft also recently changed the name of the Your Phone app in Windows 11. It’s now called Phone Link. The design of the application has been overhauled. The app enables applications between Android smartphones and Windows PCs. For example, you can have chat and audio conversations via the PC, receive notifications via Windows from the phone, transfer files and view photos from the device on the PC.
