Microsoft services including Xbox Live and Skype appear to be offline – update
Several Microsoft services, including Office 365, Xbox Live, webmail Outlook.com and voip service Skype, appear to be offline. Microsoft has not yet announced how long the service outage will last.
The Xbox Live status page has a notification about the outage. “We’re aware that some members are experiencing issues signing in to Xbox Live. We’re working on a fix to resolve the issue as soon as possible, and we’ll be sending you regular updates.”
The paid business service Office 365 is down for some users, but Outlook.com, OneDrive and Skype, among others, are also offline. Browsers then give a message that the page cannot be reached. Because the outage affects so many different services, it seems that Microsoft’s system for logging in with a Microsoft account is out of order. It is still unknown how long it will last.
Update 18.51: According to a Microsoft spokesperson, the malfunction has been largely resolved, but there are still problems with Xbox Live. The company does not provide information about the cause.
