Microsoft removes third-party Snapchat apps from Windows Phone Store
Microsoft has removed all unofficial Snapchat apps from the Windows Phone Store. A user of the alternative application 6snap reports that the existing app has become unusable because his Snapchat account has been permanently blocked.
Windows Central has discovered that all unofficial Snapchat apps have been removed from the Windows Phone Store. This includes one of the most popular Snapchat apps, 6snap, and the developer has on Twitter the removal of the app has therefore been confirmed. He says he wants to work with Microsoft to change the company behind the official app.
The disappearance of third-party Snapchat apps doesn’t come out of the blue. The company announced in November that it would warn users about the danger of unofficial apps. Snapchat has advised users to change their passwords and stop using unauthorized apps.
An user shows on Twitter an email that appears to be from Snapchat stating that the person in question has ignored multiple warnings and his account has therefore been permanently blocked. However, people have few fallback options, as Snapchat has not yet released an official app for Windows Phone.
