Microsoft removes ‘Programs and Features’ from Windows 11 Control Panel
Microsoft is removing the ‘Programs and Features’ section from the traditional Control Panel that is still in Windows 11. Previously, network settings already disappeared, with which the company is slowly but surely replacing the control panel completely.
If you run Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22523 in the Dev channel and click on Programs and Features in the Control Panel, you no longer arrive at the traditional tool, but at the ‘Apps’ section of the settings menu. Also, the option to remove installed updates has been moved to Windows Update in the Settings menu. According to Microsoft, the changes are part of the “ongoing drive” to move items from the Control Panel, or Control Panel, to the settings menu.
Microsoft seems to be making speed with this since the arrival of Windows 11. At the beginning of December, build version 22509 of the Windows 11 preview was released, in which Microsoft moved various settings from the Network and Sharing Center of the Control Panel to the Settings menu or had links to corresponding menu items at that time. institutions.
The Control Panel has been in Windows since 1985. In Windows 11 it is mainly a remnant of the screen as it was in the OS in Windows Vista and Windows 7. Starting with Windows 8, Microsoft also made Settings available through a Modern View settings menu, and the company has been moving more options from the Control Panel to the Settings menu ever since.
