Microsoft releases Xbox One controller with headphone jack
The Xbox One controller will get a headphone jack after June, according to information on a Microsoft support page. The manufacturer may announce the new input device at its E3 press conference.
A new diagram of the input device has appeared on the US version of the Xbox One controller support page. It has an extra 3.5mm jack to the left of the expansion port on the bottom of the controller. According to the page, the connection is only available on controllers released after June 2015.
At this point, headsets can already be connected to the controller using a commercially available expansion port adapter. It also adds volume controls and a microphone mute button to the input device. The diagram of the new controller shows no changes other than the 3.5mm port.
Maybe Microsoft will announce the custom controller at its E3 press conference. This one is scheduled for June 15 at 6:30 PM. Earlier there were rumors that Microsoft would also renew the Xbox One itself, with support for playing 4k material. Perhaps the refreshed controller is therefore not the only hardware news that Microsoft will report at its press conference.
