Microsoft releases Windows 365 Frontline cloud licensing model
Microsoft has made the flexible Windows cloud subscription Frontline available in preview. Windows 365 Frontline is a way for organizations to run virtualized Windows 10 or 11 PCs, but allow multiple users to use a single license.
Microsoft writes that Windows 365 Frontline is out in public beta. The subscription is a version of Windows 365, where users can stream a Windows 10 or Windows 11 virtualization from the cloud.
Windows 365 Frontline does not do anything else with it, but the tool is an alternative way for companies to arrange their subscription. Frontline is intended for companies that work a lot in shifts, such as call centers, where users work at different times and multiple licenses are therefore unnecessary. Windows 365 Frontline allows up to three employees to use a single license, as long as those employees are not working at the same time. This allows companies to reduce the number of licenses they require by three times.
At Frontline, machines are automatically turned off when not in use, unlike Windows 365 PCs with an Enterprise license that remain on. This means that users must save their documents and work after use, otherwise they may be lost.
