Microsoft releases Windows 10 test build with new icons
Microsoft has released an Insider Preview of Windows 10 with a changed appearance of icons for some built-in apps. In the coming months, a large number of icons will have a different appearance.
Microsoft released Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 19569.1000 for Windows Insiders in the Fast ring on Thursday, and this release features a redesigned Mail and Calendar icons. According to Microsoft, this is the starting point to adjust more icons. In most cases, the updates of the apps go through the Microsoft Store.
Microsoft bases the appearance of the icons on its Fluent Design design guidelines. The company is working on a project that will take several years to build renderings of its software based on this. The design team explains the changes in a separate article.
The Office icons have already been given a Fluent Design design. With Windows 10X, some icons were already visible with the views as they now appear in Windows 10.
