Microsoft releases Visual Studio 2015 on July 20

Microsoft has announced that it will release the Visual Studio 2015 development tool on July 20. .Net Framework 4.6 and Team Foundation Server 2015 will also be available on that date, just before the release of Windows 10.

The release dates of the development tools have been announced by Microsoft developer Soma Somasegar. Visual Studio 2015 in particular will be an important release for the software company as it will enable developers to develop software for its “universal Windows platform”, where applications run on a variety of Windows 10 compatible devices, including PCs and smartphones.

Visual Studio 2015 should also make it easy for developers to write software not only for Windows Phone, but also the competing mobile operating systems Android and iOS. For Android applications, Visual Studio 2015 includes an emulator based on Hyper-V. Software for OS X and Linux can also be written with Microsoft’s programming development environment. The programming languages ​​Python, ASP.Net or Node.js can be used for this. Game developers gain access to engines such as Unity and Unreal via Microsoft’s development environment.

Not all additional tools for Visual Studio 2015 are available yet. For example, developers have to wait a little longer for Project Astoria, with which Android apps can be ported to Windows 10 Mobile. Project Centennial, with which Windows desktop applications can be placed in the Windows Store, is also not finished yet. Microsoft also announced that on July 20, .Net Framework 4.6 and Team Foundation Server 2015 will be available.

Microsoft emphasizes that the upcoming rtm version of Visual Studio 2015 will not work with the current pre-release versions of Windows 10 sdk and the various Universal Windows tools. Users should wait until Windows 10 is officially released on July 29.
