Microsoft is going to release a software update that should fix battery problems with the Surface Pro 3. Owners of the device have been complaining about rapidly decreasing battery capacity for some time.

The Redmond company announced on a support forum that it has found the cause of the battery problems. It turned out that it was not a hardware problem, but a software problem. An update has therefore been worked on, which is already being tested. However, a release date for the new software has not yet been released. However, according to Microsoft, the update will be released immediately after it is released by the quality assurance department.

Usually, lithium-based batteries gradually lose their capacity over the years, but a large number of Surface Pro 3 users complained that this battery wear was very fast. Some users reported that their battery had halved in capacity in a year. Incidentally, there are also users who are not bothered by anything.

Microsoft previously hinted at a software problem, but hadn’t identified the cause at the time. Incidentally, the company has still not released anything about where the problems lie. Just like the Surface Pro 3, owners of a Surface Pro 4 also suffer from battery problems. However, that has to do with management software, which drains the battery quickly because standby mode does not work properly.
