Microsoft releases Overworld update for Minecraft
Microsoft has announced the Overworld update for Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta and the Pocket Edition. The update should build on an earlier update that added redstone by implementing more features for it. The update should be released in February.
With the new possibilities for the material, in both versions it is possible to build more different and more advanced machines, such as comparators. Also, the update adds random potions to the witch’s huts in swamps. From the update it is also possible to import and export playing fields to and from the Windows 10 Edition Beta version.
In that version, Microsoft also adds some new achievements: Camouflage, Dispense With This, Tie Dye Outfit, Map Room, Trampoline Bounce, Freight Station, Melt Everything! and Taste of your Own Medicine. Most of these are related to the new capabilities that the update adds.
Microsoft has gone in different directions with Minecraft lately. For example, it showed a HoloLens version and is working on an Education Edition for use in classrooms. It also partnered with Telltale Games to release Minecraft: Story Mode. The Windows 10 version of the game is available on the Windows Store. The Pocket Edition is available on the App Store, Google Play, Amazon Store and Windows Store.
