Microsoft releases Outlook Lite app for Android in limited countries
Microsoft has released a new Outlook Lite app for Android in a limited number of countries. The app is a lot less difficult to run and should therefore be better suited for less powerful smartphones.
In a blog, Microsoft the release of the Outlook Lite app for Android in Brazil, Turkey and India, among others. The Benelux is not included in the list of countries where the app can be downloaded via the Play Store, but Microsoft writes that the Lite version is also intended to come to other countries in the future.
According to Microsoft, Outlook Lite requires a lot less from a phone. For example, the app must also be able to run on smartphones with 1GB of RAM and the app only takes up 5MB of storage space. In addition, the Outlook Lite app must also work with slower internet connections, such as 2G and 3G.
Outlook Lite supports Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live, MSN, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Exchange Online accounts. This means that the app does not work for all accounts that you can use with the regular Outlook app. When Outlook is used with Gmail, for example, the Lite version cannot be used.
