Microsoft releases Office app with iPadOS optimizations
Microsoft has updated the Office app for iOS to work natively on iPads from now on. The application in which Word, Excel and PowerPoint come together is therefore optimized for iPadOS.
It is the general Office app that allows users to create and open Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents. That app had been available for iOS since February last year, but that was an iPhone app that is being enlarged on the iPad.
The new version is in the App Store and is now a native app, optimized for iPadOS, including a better virtual keyboard. Users still need a Microsoft 365 subscription to share and edit documents together.
The Office app is not the only application to create Microsoft documents. The company also has separate apps for Word, Excel and PowerPoint. It’s not clear what Microsoft’s plan for those apps is. The company has not said it will be phasing out and the apps have the same functionality as the general app.
