Microsoft will start releasing its new default theme for Office apps in September. This is evident from the company’s roadmap. The change includes a new default font, Aptos, and a new color palette.

With the change, Microsoft 365 apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook will have a new default theme from next month. notes The Verge. Microsoft previously announced the new themebut did not say at the time when it would become generally available.

Under the new theme, apps will have a new default font, called Aptos. This means Calibri will be replaced after fifteen years. The apps also get a new color palette and updated default line weights. Users can continue to use the old Office theme with Calibri as the default font after the change. The company will keep the old theme, which is being renamed ‘Office Theme 2013-2022’, available as an option.

Microsoft made the new theme available in the Preview version of Microsoft’s Office apps in July. The company is now reporting on its roadmap that the theme will be available to all Microsoft 365 users in September. The exact date is not yet known.
