Microsoft puts tool online to force Windows 10 update
Microsoft has put a tool online that allows users to manually download and install the necessary ISO file if they wish. The update is free for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users.
Many Benelux users don’t seem to have had the update yet despite having ‘reserved’ it, but the tool on Microsoft’s site allows users to start the setup and download the iso in the background and install it at any time. It is an ISO file with a size of 3GB. From the tool, users have the choice to update the PC directly or to prepare a USB stick for use in another PC.
Microsoft released Windows 10 on Wednesday. The new version of the desktop operating system is the first variant that Microsoft offers free of charge to users of previous versions. In the new version, Microsoft brings back the Start menu, among other things, but in addition, the Redmond company has replaced its older browser Internet Explorer with Edge and speech assistant Cortana is in the operating system. In addition, updates for home users are no longer optional: Windows installs them automatically after a certain period of time, so all users should receive security updates.
