Microsoft puts Edge browser in new build Windows 10
Microsoft has renamed its Spartan browser to Edge in the new build for Windows 10 and added new functionality. This build also includes a function to dictate an entire email to Cortana and send it without having to open an email program.
Where the browser was called Spartan until the previous build, the Microsoft Edge name and logo can now be found in build 10158, Microsoft says. People who already used Project Spartan and had favorites in it should back them up before updating. Since Edge has a new app ID, it won’t automatically include those favorites.
Edge now has a Home button, an ability to import favorites and history from other browsers, and the ability to autofill passwords on certain sites. In addition, a dark theme for the browser is provided.
In addition to Edge, there are a number of other functional changes in the build. For example, users can dictate to Cortana, if it is set to English (US), a mail by saying or typing the recipient, the subject line and the content of the message one after the other. This allows users to send mails without opening the mail program.
In the taskbar, apps that have a notification will light up in orange, as was the case in previous versions of Windows. An application’s progress bar in the taskbar is green and now shifts horizontally, instead of vertically as in previous builds.
Build 10158 will be one of the last builds of Windows 10 before the final version comes out. That will happen in about a month, on July 29. Many Windows 7 and 8.1 users will then receive the update automatically and free of charge, if they have registered.
