Microsoft pushes ‘rtm build’ Windows 10 to Insiders
Microsoft is pushing build 10240 of Windows 10 to both users in the slow ring and fast ring of its Insiders program. Despite that, Microsoft does not use the term ‘rtm’.
However, this Windows 10 build is the first where the watermark has disappeared from the desktop, making it appear that it is a version of the software that is ready to be released. Microsoft insiders sources at The Verge and ZDNet said on Wednesday that 10240 is the rtm version of Windows 10, which Microsoft sends to manufacturers to install on new devices.
There are no major innovations in the build, which users can only get through Windows Update. Microsoft notes that it will also get the Preview label from its Office 2016 applications within a week.
Windows 10 will be out in about two weeks. From then on, users will be able to perform the free update. New devices with Windows 10 are not expected to appear until a few weeks later.
