Microsoft pulls social network Socl from beta
Microsoft has opened the doors of its social networking site Socl to the general public. The service no longer has the beta label and the Redmond company has also given Socl’s interface a new look.
Socl was released in May, but users still needed an invite from Microsoft to get in. That is no longer necessary. According to the company, the beta used to gather feedback from users and the results are now visible. However, it is unclear how many people are active on the Socl network.
Among other things, Microsoft has made viewing and creating status updates faster in the new version of Socl. The profile pages have also been improved so that all information is in a central place, according to Microsoft. In addition, the pages with interests have been made more accessible.
Socl is set up as a combination between a social networking site and a search engine. Users get suggestions on various topics on the homepage, where it is possible to see what others have searched for. It is also possible to share search results that are then visible in a news stream.
