Microsoft opens ordering process for Azure Stack
Microsoft has announced that the ordering process for Azure Stack has started. The first hardware partners have started their certification process and can deliver the first systems in September.
Microsoft writes that, as previously announced, this concerns partner companies Dell EMC, Lenovo and HPE. Systems from Huawei and Cisco will follow at a later date. These companies have been able to receive orders since last Monday, according to the Redmond-based company. There are two options for Azure Stack deployment.
The first is through the integrated systems with multiple production servers just mentioned. The second option is through the Azure Stack Development Kit. This can now be downloaded and allows an organization to test on a single server. Microsoft has also published the prices.
Microsoft announced Azure Stack in 2015 as a way to run a local version of Azure in its own data center. One of the benefits would be that companies can release applications on both Azure and Azure Stack, allowing instances to run on both self-managed servers and servers from Microsoft’s cloud platform. Azure and Azure Stack run on the same architecture, and use the same portal parts and development tools.
